** Students adjudicated in the National Guild are classified by level of advancement, not by age or length of piano study.
I. Solo Performance: 「ピアノ・ソロ演奏部門」
* Solo Performance: Students of all levels may perform anywhere from one to 20 pieces
II. Special Classifications: 「スペシャル部門」
1. Hobbyist: ホビスト部門
* 暗譜免除：Unmemorized programs--students of all levels may perform anywhere from one to eight pieces
2. Duet / Duo: 連弾部門
* Duet/Duo/Trio/Quartet classification which encourages the performance of duet/duo/trio/quartet literature. 3. Jazz / Pop Music: ジャズ・ポップミュージック部門
* A special jazz classification encourages the performance of American and Contemporary music. Students of all levels may perform anywhere from one to 20 pieces memorized, or one to eight pieces unmemorized
4. Ensemble: アンサンブル部門
* To refine a pianist`s capability to `listen,` help reduce the `isolation` aspect of the piano, and encourage the art of `ensemble` playing, the Guild has established an `ensemble` category. Students of all levels may perform one piece.
5. Social Music: ソーシャルミュージック部門
